Ukraine set to raise price for transit of Russian gas
The talks on raising the gas transit price have already begun, says Serhiy Sobolev, leader of Batkivshchyna (Fatherland) party’s parliamentary faction
KIEV, March 27. /ITAR-TASS/. Ukraine is set to raise prices for transit of Russian gas through its gas pipeline network, says Serhiy Sobolev, leader of Batkivshchyna (Fatherland) party’s parliamentary faction.
“The gas price complies with the world level, while the gas transit price does not,” Sobolev told reporters on Thursday. “We have already stressed the need for raising the gas transit price. In fact, the talks have already begun.”
Speaking of the gas price for the population, he said this year it would grow by 40% on the average. For different categories of the population, the growth in prices will be different.
“Those people who have big houses will feel bigger burden,” he said, adding that Ukraine also planned to lift excise duties on diesel fuel.
