SIMFEROPOL, March 14. /ITAR-TASS/. Following the nationalization of natural resources on the territory of the Crimean Peninsula, the local production of natural gas will fully meet the region’s own demand for that type of fuel, Sergey Aksyonov, the prime minister of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea said Friday in an interview with Rossiya One channel.

He confirmed that all the natural wealth found on the territory of the republic would be nationalized. As he spoke about the mineral resources, he mentioned the presence of some promising deposits.

“We are confident the nationalization will enable Crimea to meet its internal demand for gas in full,” Aksyonov said.

He also said with confidence there are no grounds whatsoever for Ukraine to shut the supplies of electricity to the region, since Crimea does not have any debts for it.

However, the local authorities and Russian experts have drawn up an emergency plan for setting up standby generating facilities in Crimea. These standby installations will burn gas and diesel fuel.

If Ukraine does cut off electricity supplies, the reserve facilities will cover the local demand for it.
