World Bank President confirmed work on aid programs for Ukrainian was moving ahead

WASHINGTON, March 11, /ITAR-TASS/. World Bank may allocate up to $ 3 billion to Ukraine in the form of aid in 2014, a statement circulated by the international financial institution on Monday said.

It stressed the WB readiness to continue providing assistance to the people and government of Ukraine in the efforts to draw up and implement a comprehensive program of structural reforms that would help resolve the problems of economic instability, consolidate the banking sector and power engineering, and assist in the struggle with corruption.

World Bank President Jim Yong Kim said the institution is ready to support the Ukrainian people in these times of trouble and it hopes for an earliest possible stabilization in the country.

He confirmed work on aid programs for Ukrainian was moving ahead.

At present, the World Bank is implementing a range of projects on the territory of Ukraine totaling $ 3.7 billion but they mostly focus on the housing sector, public utilities and development of transport infrastructures.
