The debt reached $3.375 billion

KIEV, February 03. /ITAR-TASS/. Vice-Premier Yuri Boyko has met Gazprom CEO Alexei Miller on Ukraine’s debt for Russian gas, the government’s press service reported on Monday.

During the meeting, Boyko and Miller “discussed issues related to the autumn-summer heating season and uninterrupted transit of Russian gas to European countries via Ukraine”, the press service said.

“The officials considered the calculation for current supplies and a mechanism of paying Ukraine’s debt for Russian gas,” the press service said.

Naftogaz Ukrainy reported that communal heating enterprises continued to increase debts for gas. This can wreck timely payments with Gazprom for imported gas, the company said.

The debt reached $3.375 billion, the company said.

Earlier, acting Minister of Energy and Coal Industry Eduard Stavitsky said Naftogaz Ukrainy was paying the debt for 2013 natural gas.

Kiev is not holding talks with Russia to restructure the debt, the minister said, adding that this was the debt of Naftogaz Ukrainy exclusively.
