MOSCOW, January 23 (Itar-Tass) - Export of liquefied natural gas (LNG) from Russia may increase to 30 million tonnes by 2020 and to 100 million tonnes by 2035, says Russia’s revised Energy Strategy till 2035 compiled by the Ministry of Energy.
LNG share in gas exports will be increasing, the document adds. In particular, third of gas consumption in developing Asian countries will be provided by imports, yet the emergence of new major LNG market players like the U.S., Canada, Australia and Eastern Africa will lead to fiercer competition. Shale gas may help North America become a large LNG exporter by 2020, the ministry believes.
