Russia’s LNG export may reach 100 million tonnes by 2035

MOSCOW, January 23. /ITAR-TASS/. Russia’s liquefied natural gas export may reach 30 million tons by 2020 and 100 million tons by 2035, the Energy Ministry said in its renovated energy strategy until 2035.

The share of liquefied natural gas in Russia’s total gas export would grow, the ministry said, adding that gas consumption in Asia’s developing countries would be guaranteed through imports, while emergence of new players on the LNG market (aside from the United States and Canada, these are Australia and East Africa) would lead to tougher competition.

The Energy Ministry believes that by 2020 North America may become a large exporter of liquefied natural gas through its shale gas development.
