The winery’s direct losses over the period have made €250,000

SIMFEROPOL, December 13. /ITAR-TASS/. The Novy Svet winery in the Crimea, which produces Ukraine’s best sparkling wine, incurs losses from the disorders in Kiev, the facility’s director, a local MP Yanina Pavlenko told reporters on Friday.

“For ten days we cannot receive a license for a big shipment of ready products, as the protesters block central Kiev, where the ministry of the economy is situated,” she said. The winery’s direct losses over the period have made €250,000. Besides, about 40% of the production is exported to Russia, but the situation did not allow the winery to send over about 25%.

“In December, the winery should receive a license for wholesale operations from the ministry, and I doubt we shall manage to receive it. If the present situation continues, I do not know how we shall be working on. The situation affects both the winery and the state budget. This is an example of only one facility. Imagine what is happening across the country,” Pavlenko said.

She expressed concern “as the western regions continue protests in Kiev, the eastern ones continue working so that Ukraine had pensions and wages. Everything, which violates the legislation and the Constitution, is unacceptable, as it causes chaos. The basis for people’s wellbeing is the stable economy. Now, every day, the economic situation in the country is getting worse due to the events in Maidan (Kiev’s Independence Square),” she said.
