Uralkali CEO banned from taking walks, receiving guests
By the court's ruling, Baumgertner will be under house arrest at his address in Moscow
MOSCOW, December 11. /ITAR-TASS/. Moscow's Basmanny court has ruled that Uralkali CEO Vladislav Baumgertner, who is under house arrest, should not be allowed to take walks or receive guests.
Baumgertner was detained in Minsk in August on suspicion of involvement in theft. On November 20, the Belorussian Prosecutor General's Office agreed to extradite him to Russia. He was convoyed from Belarus to Moscow and placed in a pre-trial detention center. Russia charged him with abuse of authority.
"By the court's ruling, Baumgertner will be under house arrest at his address in Moscow. He is not allowed to leave his apartment without written permission by the investigator," a court official told Itar-Tass.
The suspect cannot communicate with anyone except his close relatives, lawyers or the investigators. Also, he is not allowed to use any means of communication, including phone and the internet.
On Tuesday, the Basmanny court changed Baumgertner's measure of restraint from custody to house arrest.
