MINSK, December 03. /ITAR-TASS/. Belarus may still consider the possibility to restore the alliance with Russia's Uralkali fertilizer producer after the company changes hands, a spokeswoman told Itar-Tass on Tuesday.

"If Russia brings forward interesting proposal on mutually advantageous cooperation, we'll consider them and start negotiations," spokesperson for the Belarusian Potash Company (BKK) Irina Savchenko said, adding that the BKK would not miss a single good opportunity.

"In any case, Belarus is expecting positive changes after Uralkali changes hands, such as adjustments with respect to the market, consumers and pricing," Savchenko said.

At present, the BKK is operating independently. It is quite successful. The transitional period is coming to an end, and the company’s new strategy showed its effectiveness, according to BKK spokesperson.

Earlier reports said Uralchem holding owner Dmitry Mazepin had negotiated the acquisition of a 20% stake in Uralkali. Savchenko could not confirm the information alleging talks had been held with Mazepin in Minsk over resumption of cooperation with Belarus.
