The company's ex-CEO remains in custody
MOSCOW, November 29. /ITAR-TASS/. Shareholders of the Uralkali Company have elected at an emergency meeting nine members of the new board of directors, including CEO Vladislav Baumgertner, who remains in custody, the company reported on Friday.
Vladislav Baumgertner, who had been extradited to Russia from Belarus November 22, is staying in Moscow’s pretrial detention center.
Baumgertner was arrested in Belarus in late August on charges of office abuse and placed under house arrest in the Belarusian capital Minsk. Later the Belarusian Investigative Committee dropped abuse of power charges against him, replacing them with embezzlement. On November 20, the Belarusian prosecutor-general’s office agreed to extradite him to Russia.
