The MOEX index decreased by 2.28%, the RTS Index dropped by 2.79%

MOSCOW, November 2. /TASS/. The MOEX Russia fell by 2.28% to 2,455.62 points at the close of Monday’s main trading session, while the dollar-denominated RTS Index declined by 2.79% to 955.34 points. The yuan exchange rate rose by 15.65 kopecks to 12.228 rubles.

"The MOEX Index suffered losses today, moving toward the middle of the 2,400-2,500-point range. Falling oil prices prompted profit-taking. The decline in exporters’ shares was cushioned by the weakening ruble," stock market expert at BCS World of Investments Andrey Smirnov said.

The top gainers were shares of VK (+28.62%), Seligdar (+5.99%), Rostelecom’s common (+4.88%) and preferred (+4.16%) shares, and M.Video (+3.71%), according to Dmitry Lozovoy, analyst at Finam Financial Group.

Shares of PhosAgro (-5.15%), Rusal (-4.63%), Tatneft’s preferred (-4.38%) and common (-4.28%) shares, and Inter RAO (-3.86%) posted declines, the analyst added.

According to Freedom Global analyst Vladimir Chernov, the decline in Rusal shares may have been linked to the publication of weak financial results under Russian Accounting Standards (RAS) for the first nine months of 2026. The company’s net profit plunged more than 300-fold, from 193 bln rubles to 635.7 mln rubles, while it posted a loss from sales of 2.45 bln rubles, compared with a profit from sales of 161.4 bln rubles a year earlier.

Outlook for November 3

BCS World of Investments believes that the MOEX Index’s decline below 2,480 points leaves room for a further correction toward 2,420 points. On Tuesday, the dollar is expected to trade in the range of 80-82 rubles, while the yuan is projected at 12-12.3 rubles.

Freedom Global analyst Vladimir Chernov expects the MOEX Index to trade between 2,420 and 2,490 points during the next trading session. If oil prices continue to decline, the index could approach the 2,400-point mark.
