The line will begin operations at the AstraZeneca plant in the Vorsino Industrial Park in the Kaluga Region
MOSCOW, November 2. /TASS/. The pharmaceutical company AstraZeneca is launching a new production line for innovative oncology drugs at its plant in the Kaluga Region on November 2, the company's press service told TASS.
"The line will begin operations at the AstraZeneca plant in the Vorsino Industrial Park in the Kaluga Region, where eleven drugs are currently manufactured, with seven of them through a full cycle. The new production site is equipped with unique equipment that allows working with highly potent oncological substances in a completely sealed environment," the press service noted.
The Vorsino plant will become AstraZeneca's third site in the world to utilize this type of technology, the company said. At the initial stage, the line will begin production of a targeted drug registered in Russia for the treatment of malignant neoplasms associated with BRCA1/2 gene mutations, specifically, breast, ovarian, prostate, and pancreatic cancer.
The new line is equipped to execute the full-cycle production of two targeted oncology drugs, from active ingredient preparation to finished coated tablets, the press service added.
