Elga coal terminal reaching design capacity
"The created infrastructure, the Pacific Railway and the coal terminal, fully unlocks the potential of the Elgin deposit and ensures efficient and uninterrupted coal delivery to consumers in key markets for the company," Elga CEO Alexander Isaev said
MOSCOW, November 2. /TASS/. The Elga Port Marine Coal Terminal has reached its design capacity, shipping 2.5 million metric tons of coal in October 2026, which corresponds to 30 million metric tons in annual equivalent, the press service of Ellga Management Company reported.
"The port reaching its design capacity is an important milestone in the development of the Elga industrial and logistics cluster. The created infrastructure, the Pacific Railway and the coal terminal, fully unlocks the potential of the Elgin deposit and ensures efficient and uninterrupted coal delivery to consumers in key markets for the company," Elga CEO Alexander Isaev said, cited by the press service.
This result is the consequence of large-scale investments and the coordinated work of the entire project team, Isaev noted.
The Pacific Railway was launched in September 2025, Elga said. The 531-kilometer mainline connects the Elga coal deposit in Yakutia) with the marine terminal at Cape Manorsky in the Khabarovsk Region, on the coast of the Sea of Okhotsk. The design throughput capacity of the railway is up to 50 million metric tons of coal per year.
In 2025, 35.1 million metric tons of coal were mined at the Elga deposit, and by the end of 2026, the mining volume will exceed 40 million metric tons.
