Rosatom to deal with nuclear energy sector development in Togo
The working groups will determine the concrete steps of the parties toward human resource development in the peaceful atom sector
MOSCOW, October 28. /TASS/. The Russian state nuclear corporation Rosatom and the Ministry of Energy of Togo have signed a memorandum of cooperation in the field of the peaceful use of atomic energy on the sidelines of the Russia-Africa Summit.
"The signing of the memorandum opens a new chapter in Rosatom's relations with the Togolese Republic and lays the foundation for joint work across a wide spectrum of peaceful nuclear technologies. We are ready to offer our partners solutions in the fields of energy, healthcare, and agriculture. We will also facilitate professional training and nuclear infrastructure development. One of the promising areas of cooperation is the use of floating nuclear power units for reliable, low-carbon energy supply. For Togo, nuclear technologies can become a powerful driver of socioeconomic development and improve the people's quality of life," Rosatom CEO Alexey Likhachev said in a comment.
The memorandum provides for the creation of specialized working groups that will assess the potential for implementing practical projects in nuclear power and non-energy applications of nuclear technologies. The working groups will also determine the concrete steps of the parties toward human resource development in the peaceful atom sector and the promotion of a positive public attitude toward nuclear energy in Togo.
