Constant strikes by the Ukrainian armed forces on Energodar and the ZNPP, deliberate and calculated, targeting not military facilities but people and social infrastructure, have become part of everyday life, Alexey Likhachev said

MOSCOW, October 22. /TASS/. Ongoing attacks by the Ukrainian armed forces on the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP) and Energodar could lead to a major regional tragedy, Rosatom CEO Alexey Likhachev told reporters.

"Constant strikes [by the Ukrainian armed forces on Energodar and the ZNPP], deliberate and calculated, targeting not military facilities but people and social infrastructure, have become part of everyday life," Likhachev said.

He stressed that the state nuclear corporation was continuing to seek a response from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and the international community to the situation. "We are drawing the attention of international organizations, countries and, as they say, all people of goodwill to the fact that this must stop; it is unacceptable. We are just a few steps away from a major regional tragedy," the Rosatom CEO said.
