Digital AI worms can threaten business networks — expert

IoT devices have long been considered a major vulnerability in network infrastructure, Daniil Borislavsky noted

YEKATERINBURG, October 22. /TASS/. The potential spread of digital AI worms to Internet of Things (IoT) devices could threaten not only their owners but also corporations as infected cameras, TVs, and videoconferencing systems could serve as entry points for intranet attacks, Daniil Borislavsky, Product Director at Staffcop, told TASS.

"This problem doesn't just affect home users. Smart cameras, televisions, videoconferencing systems, and other similar equipment are actively deployed in corporate environments. If such devices are insufficiently secured and have access to the company's internal network, their compromise could potentially become a launchpad for further attacks on corporate infrastructure," the expert said.

IoT devices have long been considered a major vulnerability in network infrastructure, Borislavsky said. Manufacturers do not always prioritize their security, while users often fail to recognize this technology as a viable target for a cyberattack. To mitigate these threats, companies must strictly monitor all devices connected to corporate infrastructure, segment their networks, and track any suspicious activity, the expert added.
