Rosatom satisfied domestic market needs for thallium nitrate
The production cost of the item is 40% lower than the prices offered by foreign manufacturers, the press service said
MOSCOW, October 19. /TASS/. Researchers from Giredmet company, a member of Rosatom's research division, have developed a technology and organized the production of thallium nitrate, eliminating the domestic electronics industry's reliance on foreign supplies for this critical component, the company’s press service said.
The thallium nitrate produced by Giredmet using its proprietary technology fully meets the industry's demand for this critical component. The production cost of the item is 40% lower than the prices offered by foreign manufacturers, the press service said. The work was carried out under a government contract with the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade.
"We have created original technologies and our own technical specifications that provide a purity buffer two orders of magnitude higher than market requirements. This is a fundamentally different level of technological independence – we own the entire chain of expertise," said Dmitry Vasilyev, Deputy Director of Production at Giredmet.
Thallium nitrate is used in various industries, primarily in microelectronics and microwave electronics. It is added to electrolytes for the gold-plating of contacts and microchip components. It is also used in semiconductor manufacturing and the doping of thin films.
