Energy storage units to be installed in all Russian solar power plants
Russia plans to construct around 6.2 GW of generation capacity based on renewable energy sources, Energy Minister Sergey Tsivilev said earlier
MOSCOW, October 19. /TASS/. The Russian Ministry of Energy sees a need to connect energy storage systems to all solar power plants and this solution will be implemented at a generating facility currently under construction in the Far East, Energy Minister Sergey Tsivilev said at the State Duma, the lower house of the Russian legislative assembly.
"From the standpoint of generating solar and wind electric power, we already have 1.4 GW projects in the Far East. The project is for solar power. We added the mandatory inclusion of an energy storage unit to this project. From now on, all solar energy projects are to be equipped with energy storage units," he said.
Russia plans to construct around 6.2 GW of generation capacity based on renewable energy sources (RES), the minister said earlier. The Russian Ministry of Energy considered it appropriate to conduct future selection processes for clean energy projects by incorporating energy storage systems into them.
