Datacenter industry critical for economy — Russian presidential advisor
New power generating capacities are also needed for industry, both civilian and military, Anton Kobyakov noted
MOSCOW, October 16. /TASS/. The datacenter industry is vitally important for the economy and the society, Advisor to the Russian President Anton Kobyakov said at a press conference during the Russian Energy Week forum.
"The datacenter industry, as we all see now, is vital for the economy and society. And our partners and competitors, China and the US, are building very, very many of them. The situation where artificial intelligence, although a 'classic bubble' that I note will burst soon due to rising interest rates and the need to convert assets into cash, does not change the fact that by 2030, the AI industry will still consume up to 5-7% of global electricity," he said.
New power generating capacities are also needed for industry, both civilian and military, and for the development of electric transport, Kobyakov added.
