Gazprom sees ASEAN requirement for gas storage facilities
Gazprom views ASEAN as one of its priority regions, much like the Global South countries in general, the holding's Deputy Department Head Yury Dyachenko noted
MOSCOW, October 15. /TASS/. Gazprom noted the need for the creation of underground gas storage (UGS) facilities as part of its interaction with the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), Deputy Department Head of the Russian gas holding Yury Dyachenko said during the Russian Energy Week forum.
Gazprom views ASEAN as one of its priority regions, much like the Global South countries in general, he noted. By 2050, the countries of the Global South will consume 70% of the total global gas demand, which is projected at 5.7 trillion cubic meters.
"Specifically in the ASEAN countries, we noticed quite a lot of interest in geodesy, production, and, I will highlight this separately, in UGS," Dyachenko said.
Gazprom also took note of ASEAN's significant need for large-and medium-scale LNG facilities. "We can assist both with the resource and technologies, and directly with personnel training," the company representative added.
