KAZAN, October 15. /TASS/. Russia and India reckon upon building the first ships as part of the bilateral cooperation program by 2030, honorary representative of the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry in India Vladislav Dmitriev told TASS in an interview.

"The Indian side believes they are ready to provide Russia with a pipeline within a timeframe of two to three years. That is, the first ships under the program we are currently implementing as part of our bilateral cooperation should be built by 2030," he said on the sidelines of the 2nd Russia-India Business Forum Time.

Several Indian companies that are already actively collaborating with Russian shipyards and other industries came to the business forum, the expert said. They plan to discuss the construction of several river-sea class vessels and chemical tankers at the forum, Dmitriev noted.

Cooperation in the field of ice-class vessels as another promising direction, the expert said. "We know that one of the Indian state shipyards has now started designing its first ice-class vessel. And two of our largest companies from the oil and gas sector are among those interested in purchasing this project," he noted.

Russia and India have repeatedly discussed the development of cooperation in the Arctic and the possibility of using new vessels on the Northern Sea Route, Dmitriev added.

The 2nd Russia-India Business Forum Time is taking place on October 14-17 in Kazan, the capital of Tatarstan. TASS is the general information partner of the forum.
