In August, cargo turnover at Far Eastern ports increased compared to July, being nearly a quarter higher than the 2025 average for the third consecutive month

VLADIVOSTOK, October 15. /TASS/. The highest volume of shipments of petroleum products in the last four years was recorded in August at ports in the Far East, according to the Russian Central Bank’s report.

"In August, cargo turnover at Far Eastern ports increased compared to July, being nearly a quarter higher than the 2025 average for the third consecutive month. This growth was driven primarily by liquefied gas and petroleum products. Shipments of petroleum products in August reached a four-year high despite fuel export restrictions. This was partly related to the rerouting of some supplies from southern ports to Far Eastern ports due to shipping restrictions there. Shipments of oil and coal remained high supported by steady demand from Asian countries," the report said.

LNG shipments have increased following the completion of scheduled maintenance at one of oil and gas projects on Sakhalin. In August, the number of container trains carrying imports from Far Eastern ports was double what it had been at the beginning of the year. The cost of maritime shipments from Asian countries reached an 18-month high in September.
