First diesel supplies to US possible in at least 2-3 weeks — Novak
The Russian deputy prime minister believes that it is necessary to conclude an agreement as soon as possible
MOSCOW, October 15. /TASS/. The first supplies of Russian diesel to the US could take place in at least 2-3 weeks, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak told reporters.
"To carry out the shipments, it is necessary to conclude a contract and load the fuel, charter a vessel and dispatch it to the consumer, which takes 2-3 weeks. Therefore, it is probably necessary to conclude an agreement as soon as possible," he said on the sidelines of Russian Energy Week.
Russian and US leaders, Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump, held a phone call on October 9, during which they discussed, among other things, petroleum product supplies. The Russian president said that Moscow had reaffirmed its readiness to supply oil and petroleum products to the US and global market.
Novak told TASS earlier that Moscow would lift its ban on diesel exports ahead of schedule, being ready to supply 300,000 tons of diesel in October, increasing the volume to 500,000 tons in November, and 1 million tons in December. Monthly supplies could subsequently reach 3 million tons.
The Trump administration, in turn, has issued a general license authorizing Russian diesel supplies to the global market until April 7, 2027.
The Russian Energy Week (REW) International Forum is taking place in Moscow from October 14 to 16. It is being held with the support of the Government of the Russian Federation, the Ministry of Energy of the Russian Federation, and the Government of Moscow. The Roscongress Foundation organizes the forum. TASS is the information partner of Russian Energy Week.
