MOSCOW, October 12. /TASS/. Russian and US companies, along with the energy ministries of both nations, are already in talks regarding the supply of Russian diesel fuel, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak said in an interview with the Vesti news program.
"In accordance with the agreements reached between President Putin and President Trump, the government promptly issued a directive partially lifting the ban on diesel fuel exports, allowing its supply to global markets, including the United States. The relevant sanctions that were previously in place have been waived by our American counterparts for a six-month period. Today, negotiations are already underway between our companies and buyers of Russian commodities, as well as between the Russian Ministry of Energy and the US Department of Energy," Novak said.
On October 9, Russian President Vladimir Putin and US President Donald Trump held a telephone conversation during which they discussed, among other topics, the supply of petroleum products. The Russian leader stated that Moscow had confirmed its readiness to supply oil and petroleum products to both the US and global markets.
Novak told TASS that Russia was beginning to lift its ban on diesel fuel exports ahead of schedule and was prepared to supply 300,000 tons of diesel in October, 500,000 tons in November, and 1 million tons in December, with the aim of eventually increasing this volume to 3 million tons per month.
Meanwhile, the Washington administration is exempting shipments of Russian diesel fuel to global markets from US sanctions until April 7, 2027.
