Communications Director Yevgenia Yashina noted that the necessary repairs require safe conditions

MELITOPOL, October 11. /TASS/. The interaction between the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and Russia and Ukraine on another temporary ceasefire for the repair of the electrical equipment at the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant is of practical importance, Communications Director Yevgenia Yashina told TASS.

"To carry out repairs, it is necessary to ensure safe conditions. This is why the IAEA’s interaction with the Russian and Ukrainian sides on the issue of a local ceasefire is of practical importance," Yashina said.

Earlier, she told TASS that the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant needs a quiet mode to restore the electrical equipment damaged by Ukrainian attacks at the nearby Zaporozhye thermal power plant. It transmits electricity from the Ferroalloy-1 line to the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant; its repair will reduce the risks of repeated disruptions to external power supply.

Rosatom CEO Alexey Likhachev said that the state corporation informed the IAEA about the need for repairs and a temporary ceasefire. Later IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi said he was in talks with Russia and Ukraine about a local ceasefire in the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant area for repairs at the Zaporozhye thermal power plant.
