VK challenges EU sanctions in European court
The case, titled VK v. Council of the EU, was registered in the database of the Court of Justice of the European Union on October 7
MOSCOW, October 9. /TASS/. Russian tech giant VK has launched a legal challenge against European Union sanctions, calling the restrictions groundless and unjustified, the company’s press service told TASS on Wednesday.
The case, titled VK v. Council of the EU, was registered in the database of the Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU) on October 7.
"VK is contesting the Council of the European Union's decision to include the company on its sanctions list," the press service said. "VK considers the decision unlawful and unfounded, and demands the annulment of the previously imposed sanctions."
The EU blacklisted VK in July. In its statement of reasons, the Council of the EU cited the fact that VK serves as the parent company for the Max messaging application. The legal entity operating the Max app was also targeted under the same sanctions package.
