Russian stock indices up as trading opens on Moscow Exchange

At the start of the main session at 09:00 a.m. Moscow time, the MOEX and RTS indices gained 0.18%

MOSCOW, October 9. /TASS/. The Russian stock market opened higher on Friday during the main trading session, according to Moscow Exchange (MOEX) data, while the yuan reversed its early gains to trade lower.

At the start of the main session at 09:00 a.m. Moscow time, the benchmark MOEX and dollar-denominated RTS indices both ticked up 0.18% to 2,316.56 and 854.35 points, respectively. Meanwhile, the yuan initially gained a marginal 0.1 kopecks from its previous close to open at 12.68 rubles.

By 09:20 a.m. Moscow time, the MOEX index pared some gains to stand at 2,315.33 points (+0.13%), while the RTS index hovered at 853.9 points (+0.13%). At the same time, the yuan turned negative, shedding 1.35 kopecks to trade at 12.66 rubles.

Earlier, during the pre-market morning session at 07:00 a.m. Moscow time, the MOEX index had risen 0.11% to 2,314.84 points.
