Mali to buy Kamaz trucks worth $51.5 mln

HARARE, October 7. /TASS/. Mali’s SMTL-SA transport company has signed a contract with Kamaz for the supply of trucks worth a total of more than 30 bln West African francs ($51.5 mln). The signing ceremony took place in Bamako in the presence of Mali’s ministers of economy and finance, as well as transport and infrastructure, Malian television channel Kati24 reported.

The contract, signed in accordance with an intergovernmental agreement between Mali and Russia, is aimed at expanding Mali’s transport and logistics capacity, the television channel noted. This is particularly important for meeting the country’s supply needs for both food and industrial goods.

In addition to the delivery of Russian trucks, vehicle repair and maintenance workshops and truck assembly facilities will be established in Bamako, the television channel said. The project also provides for the supply of spare parts, technology transfer, and the training of Malian technical specialists.
