TOKYO, October 7. /TASS/. Inflation in the United States has exceeded the Federal Reserve's target for over five and a half years, International Monetary Fund (IMF) Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva said.
"In many countries inflation exceeding target has been a headache for quite some time – in the U.S. case for over 5.5 years. We draw comfort from long-term inflation expectations staying anchored, but let us not forget the simple fact that inflation is only anchored until it is not – as I learned the hard way from Bulgaria’s hyperinflation," Georgieva said.
She was speaking in Singapore ahead of the IMF and World Bank Autumn Meetings, scheduled for next week in Thailand.
