Russian stock indices up as main trading session opens on Moscow Exchange
The benchmark MOEX and RTS indices rose by 0.27% each to 2,334.88 and 856.16 points, respectively
MOSCOW, October 7. /TASS/. The Russian stock market gained ground at the start of the main trading session on Wednesday, according to Moscow Exchange (MOEX) data. The yuan also ticked up against the ruble.
At the opening of the main session, the benchmark MOEX and RTS indices rose by 0.27% each to 2,334.88 and 856.16 points, respectively, as of 09:00 a.m. Moscow time. The yuan-to-ruble exchange rate edged up by 3.75 kopecks from the previous close to 12.7425 rubles.
By 09:15 a.m. Moscow time, the MOEX index accelerated gains, rising 0.66% to 2,343.88 points, while the RTS index also added 0.66% to reach 861.46 points. Meanwhile, the yuan extended its growth, rising 4.1 kopecks to 12.746 rubles.
Earlier, at the 07:00 a.m. Moscow time opening of the morning trading session, the MOEX index edged up 0.1% to 2,330.88 points.
