Russian think-tank publishes list of major arms buyers in 2025

Poland took first place, according to the National Defense magazine

MOSCOW, October 6. /TASS/. A Russian independent research center named Poland, India, Australia, Taiwan and the United Kingdom as the world’s biggest buyers of weapons in a survey for the National Defense magazine.

"The Center for Analysis of World Arms Trade (CAWAT) has released its rating of the world’s leading arms importers in 2025. In compiling the list, CAWAT accounts exclusively for identified contracts. The top five positions in the list are distributed as follows: 1. Poland - $11.910 billion (9.97%); 2. India - $6.970 billion (5.83%); 3. Australia - $6. billion (5.82%); 4. Taiwan - $5.537· billion (4.63%); 5. The United Kingdom - $3.671 billion (3.07%)," reads the survey, obtained by TASS.

Saudi Arabia comes sixth, followed by Japan, Algeria, and Kuwait.

Germany completes the top ten, followed by Brazil, the United Arab Emirates, Egypt, Iran and Morocco.

Rounding up the list in positions from 16th to 20th are the United States, Spain, the Netherlands, Belgium and Azerbaijan.

Experts noted that the list includes only commercial contracts for weapons and military equipment. For example, Ukraine, which receives military equipment and arms from the Western coalition free of charge, was not included into the list.
