Russian stock indices up as main trading session opens on Moscow Exchange

The benchmark MOEX Russia Index and the dollar-denominated RTS Index both ticked up by 0.28%, reaching 2,326.11 and 862.79 points, respectively

MOSCOW, October 6. /TASS/. The Russian stock market gained ground at the opening of the main trading session on Tuesday, according to Moscow Exchange (MOEX) data. The Chinese yuan also strengthened against the ruble.

At the opening bell, the benchmark MOEX Russia Index and the dollar-denominated RTS Index both ticked up by 0.28%, reaching 2,326.11 and 862.79 points, respectively, as of 09:00 a.m. Moscow time. Meanwhile, the yuan rose by 6.2 kopecks from its previous close to trade at 12.816 rubles.

By 09:15 a.m. Moscow time, the MOEX Index flattened out slightly to 2,326.02 points (+0.28%), while the RTS Index hovered at 862.76 points (+0.28%). At the same time, the yuan pared gains slightly, trading up 6 kopecks at 12.814 rubles.
