Russians more often sell dollars than purchase in September — bank
The ratio in the number of cash dollar conversions in September stood at 56% to 44% in favor of sales
MOSCOW, October 5. /TASS/. Russians more often sold dollars instead of buying them in September 2026, the press service of Russian Standard Bank told TASS.
"Dollar sales took the lead in the first month of fall. The ratio in the number of cash dollar conversions in September stood at 56% to 44% in favor of sales. Online dollar sales led with a share of 62% against 37% for purchases," the press service said.
At the same time, cash euros were sold and bought with equal activity in September. Each of these two types of transactions accounted for 50% of all euro conversions. Cashless euros were bought more often than sold, with the ratio of 71% against 29% respectively.
According to the bank's statistics, 96% of conversions in September were made with cash foreign currency, while the remaining 4% were cashless. The ratio was almost the same in August, with offline standing at 97% and online at 3%.
The average dollar exchange transaction amounted to $519 in September, compared to $522 in August. At the same time, the average transaction amount for euro conversions declined to 535 euros from 583 euros in August 2026.
