Arkhangelsk Region's student teams work on construction of icebreaker, port, highway

The region's 55 student and 32 teenager labor teams featured more than 900 people

ARKHANGELSK, October 2. /TASS/. The Arkhangelsk Region's student teams completed the labor semester in 2026, where they participated in the construction of strategic facilities in the Russian Federation, including a nuclear icebreaker, the Moscow - St. Petersburg high-speed highway, and an Arctic port. The teams featured more than 900 students, the Russian Student Teams' branch in Arkhangelsk told TASS.

"A closing ceremony of the Arkhangelsk Region's student teams third labor semester was organized in Arkhangelsk," the movement's regional branch said. "In 2026, the region's student teams worked at the country's strategic sites - from the building of a nuclear icebreaker at the Baltic Shipyard to the construction of the Moscow - St. Petersburg high-speed highway, and an Arctic port. The region's 55 student and 32 teenager labor teams featured more than 900 people."

Ten members of the Gradient production team from the Kotlas Electromechanical College worked more than 2,600 hours at the Baltic Shipyard in St. Petersburg, doing electrical work on the Chukotka nuclear icebreaker that is under construction there. Another 15 students from the region's construction teams worked on the construction of the Moscow - St. Petersburg high-speed highway, one of the country's major infrastructure projects. Additionally, construction teams' twelve members worked at port infrastructure facilities in the Krasnoyarsk Region's Dudinka.

"In the year of our movement's 60th anniversary, the students have demonstrated that they can work at the country's most important facilities," the Arkhangelsk Regional Branch's leader Egor Ivanov said. "A nuclear icebreaker, a high-speed highway, and an Arctic port are projects that determine Russia's future."

From Kaliningrad to Sakhalin

The student teams worked at enterprises in the Russian Federation's 15 regions. Construction teams (65 people) worked at strategic sites in the Murmansk, Moscow, Novgorod and Krasnoyarsk Regions, as well as at defense facilities in the Arctic and in the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Region. The Artel restoration team's 14 members spent the labor season restoring the 19th century's Chapel of Elijah the Prophet in the village of Novaya Derevnya, in the Vologda Region. Production teams (170 people) worked at the biggest construction sites: the Kamaz Project in Naberezhnye Chelny, the Arctic Project in Kaliningrad and St. Petersburg. Teaching teams (171 people) worked shifts in children's camps in the Arkhangelsk Region and in other regions. Service teams (68 people) worked at hotel complexes in the south of Russia and at the Pulkovo Airport. Teams of train attendants (175 people) worked on long-distance trains running throughout the country, as well as on national projects in Yekaterinburg, St. Petersburg and Moscow. Medical teams (29 people) practiced at hospitals in Arkhangelsk and participated in national projects - the Academy Project in Novosibirsk, and the Parma Project in Perm.

It was for the first time that the movement had fishing season teams (28 people) - students worked at fish processing enterprises of the Sakhalin and the Kuril Islands. Agricultural teams (13 people) worked on the AgroNero and ChistoYagoda projects in the Leningrad Region. Several teams (56 people) worked on special projects: an archaeological team worked at the Russian Academy of Sciences' Institute of Archeology, a search team participated in expeditions, a career guidance team participated in the admission campaign at the Northern Arctic Federal University (NArFU), and a media team conducted photo and video support at the national Arctic Project and at children's camps.

As many as 118 teenagers between 14 and 17 years worked in retail chains, landscaping and search expeditions.

In 2026, the Arkhangelsk Region's student teams have celebrated their 60th anniversary. Over the years, more than 135,000 young people have taken part in the movement. Presently, in the region's 14 municipal districts operate 55 student teams and 32 teenager labor teams. The youth labor movement's development continues under the Youth and Children National Project.
