Russian exports for Kazakhstan's energy sector exceed $3 bln — trade representative
According to Anton Loginov, steady demand for Russian products is driven by scheduled maintenance and facility modernization
ALMATY, October 1. /TASS/. The annual volume of Russian machinery exports to Kazakhstan exceeds $1.2 billion, and when the full spectrum of supplies for the fuel and energy sector is included, the figure surpasses $3 billion, Anton Loginov, Russia’s Trade Representative to Kazakhstan, told TASS.
"The total volume of shipments depends on product classification: if only machinery is considered, annual exports exceed $1.2 billion, by various estimates. If the entire range of supplies for the fuel and energy sector is taken into account, exports exceed $3 billion," Loginov said when asked about the volume of Russian oil and gas equipment and technology exports to the republic.
According to him, steady demand for Russian products is driven by scheduled maintenance and facility modernization. The trade representative cited rising local content requirements and the implementation of new projects under the EPC+F model – where the contractor handles design, material procurement, construction, and securing external financing – as factors constraining growth.
Loginov noted that key areas of opportunity for Russian companies in Kazakhstan include solutions for mature fields, programs to extend intervals between overhauls, the expansion of gas transmission infrastructure, and highly specialized IT products.
Market participants also identify geological exploration, joint ventures, and the petrochemical and oil-and-gas-chemical sectors as areas of interest.
The KIOGE 2026 "Oil and Gas" international exhibition and conference opened in Almaty on September 30 and runs until October 2. As Mikhail Kladkin, head of the Russian Export Center’s representative office in Kazakhstan, previously told TASS, the "Made in Russia" national exposition - featuring 50 companies from 23 Russian regions - has become the largest among the collective stands of the exhibition's participating countries.
