Russian current account surplus grow to $16.9 bln in Q2 2026 — Central Bank

The trade balance surplus stood at $39.4 bln in the second quarter of 2026

MOSCOW, September 30. /TASS/. The Russian current account surplus moved up in the second quarter of this year to $16.9 bln from $2.1 bln in the like period of 2025, the Central Bank said in its updated estimate.

The trade balance surplus stood at $39.4 bln in the second quarter of 2026, as compared to $23.6 bln in the like period of the past year. The increase is mainly attributed to the rise in international prices, the Central Bank said.

The services balance deficit gained $0.5 mln year on year in the second quarter of 2026 and totaled $13.1 bln. "The key role was played by a seasonal rise in Russians’ expenses during overseas trips and an increase in the volume of transportation and other services received from nonresidents, including telecom, computer and information services, the intellectual property use fee and other business services," the regulator said.
