MOSCOW, September 23. /TASS/. Russia has 102.8 mln metric tons of copper reserves, ranking sixth in the world, the Russian Natural Resources Ministry told TASS.

According to the ministry, the country’s largest copper deposits are Udokan in the Trans-Baikal Region (19.6 mln metric tons), Oktyabrskoye in the Krasnoyarsk Region (17.3 mln metric tons), Talnakh in the Krasnoyarsk Region (9.6 mln metric tons), and Peschanka in Chukotka (8.63 mln metric tons).

Earlier, copper futures for December 2026 delivery rose 2.44% to $6.9275 per pound at the close of trading on September 22, reaching an all-time high, according to exchange data. Kirill Dmitriev, Russian Presidential Special Representative for Investment and Economic Cooperation with Foreign Countries and CEO of the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF), drew attention to the rally in copper prices, calling the metal "the new gold."
