Aeroflot, Rostec sign contract for delivery of 90 MC-21 aircraft

The contract became the largest in the history of Russian civil aviation

MOSCOW, September 18. /TASS/. Aeroflot and Rostec have signed a contract for the delivery of the second batch of 90 domestically produced MC-21 aircraft, with the air carrier to receive airliners between 2029 and 2032, the Kremlin’s press service reported.

"Aeroflot signed the contract with three companies belonging to Rostec State Corporation: the United Aircraft Corporation (UAC), the leasing company Aviacapital-Service, and the United Engine Corporation (UEC). Under the terms of the deal, the airline will receive 90 MC-21 medium-haul aircraft between 2029 and 2032," the report said.

Russian President Vladimir Putin, as well as Industry and Trade Minister Anton Alikhanov and Transport Minister Andrey Nikitin, participated in the signing ceremony via video link. The contract became the largest in the history of Russian civil aviation.

Delivery of the first aircraft under the contract for the first batch of 18 aircraft signed in 2023 is expected as early as 2027, according to the report.
