BISHKEK, September 1. /TASS/. Russian President Vladimir Putin has expressed confidence that the Rosatom state corporation will launch the first power unit of the Akkuyu NPP in 2026 as planned.

"You set a task for our company Rosatom to launch the first unit this year. This is going to happen, the company is on schedule," Putin said.

The Russian leader arrived in Kyrgyzstan for the SCO summit on Monday. On Tuesday, he held talks with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. The leaders emphasized energy cooperation, including on the Akkuyu NPP project.
