Romania records highest fuel price increase in EU over past year

The average fuel price increase across the European Union was 16.9%

BUCHAREST, August 21. /TASS/. Romania has recorded the highest fuel price increases among all European Union countries over the past 12 months, according to data published by Eurostat.

Romania saw a 24.2% rise in gasoline and diesel prices during this period, followed by Germany and Lithuania at 22.9% each, and Bulgaria at 22.2%. Conversely, the lowest price increases were recorded in Sweden (1.2%), and Ireland (3.2%). The average fuel price increase across the European Union was 16.9%.

Hungary was the only EU country where fuel was cheaper in July of this year than in the same month last year as prices for gasoline and diesel fuel there fell by 0.1%, according to Eurostat data.
