Rosstat preliminarily estimates Russia’s GDP growth in Q2 2026 at 1.3%

GDP growth was driven primarily by retail trade turnover, food service turnover and freight turnover

MOSCOW, August 12. /TASS/. Russia’s GDP growth in the second quarter of 2026 stood at 1.3% in annual terms, according to preliminary estimates from Rosstat.

Previously the statistical agency estimated the decline in Russia’s GDP for the first quarter of 2026 compared to the same period of 2025 at 0.2%.

Industry-specific statistical indicators were used for the calculation. GDP growth was driven primarily by retail trade turnover (+7.2%), food service turnover (+6.2%), freight turnover (+2.5%), wholesale trade turnover (+2.4%), and manufacturing (+2%), Rosstat said. At the same time, declines were recorded in passenger turnover (-2.3%), mining (-1.9%), construction (-1.6%), and agriculture (-1.5%).
