Kalashnikov close to agreement with India on anti-drone cartridges
Kalashnikov is exploring two areas in India in the field of combating drones with small arms
NEW DELHI, June 24. /TASS/. Negotiations between the Kalashnikov holding and an Indian company on the supply of anti-drone cartridges are at an advanced stage and their production can be localized in India in the future, Maxim Karavaev, director of business development of the company in India, told TASS.
Kalashnikov is exploring two areas in India in the field of combating drones with small arms. The first is related to specialized anti-drone shotguns, which are actively used by the Russian military during the Special Military Operation. "One of the main products is the Saiga-12. Its advantage is that it is almost identical to the Kalashnikov in terms of the mechanism of operation. Indian police and military personnel who are used to the pattern of the Kalashnikov assault rifle will feel themselves very comfortable using the Saiga. The magazine is quickly changed there and protection for the group can be swiftly provided," Karavaev said.
The second area is anti-drone cartridges for small arms, which are already in service with the Indian security forces. "The Indian Ministry of Defense and our Indian partners have long asked for anti-drone cartridges specifically for rifled automatic small arms. Today we present them," Karavayev said.
"Now we are already at a fairly mature stage of negotiations with an Indian company on trial deliveries of rather large batches [of anti-drone cartridges]. And over time, they will be produced in India. That is, cartridge companies that are already engaged in the production of ammunition in India will acquire this technology from us," the company representative said.
Kalashnikov presented its high-tech products at the India Homeland Security Expo, which opened in New Delhi.
