BRUSSELS, April 1. /TASS/. The European Commission will soon hand over €1.4 billion in revenue from frozen Russian assets to Ukraine, the European Commission said in a statement.
"Yesterday, the European Union received €1.4 billion in windfall profits generated by the interest on the cash balances originating from immobilized assets of the Russian Central Bank," the statement said. It stressed that the funds will be directed "to sustain the Ukrainian State, preserve essential public services" and support the Ukrainian military.
The EC noted that this is the fourth tranche of revenue from Russian assets that the European Commission began seizing from European depositories — primarily Belgium's Euroclear — in 2024.
