About 4% of the global tonnage of vessels are now idle in the Persian Gulf

NEW YORK, March 3. /TASS/. More than three thousand ships are waiting in Persian Gulf ports for the opportunity to sail through the Strait of Hormuz, The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) said, citing Clarksons Research data.

According to its information, about 4% of the global tonnage of vessels are now idle in the Persian Gulf.

The Strait of Hormuz connects the Persian Gulf with the Gulf of Oman and further with the Indian Ocean. About a fifth of global oil exports is passing over it.
