In 2025, Russian Railways’ network freight throughput amounted to 1.116 bln tons, a decrease of 5.6% compared to 2024

MOSCOW, February 3. /TASS/. Freight turnover in Russia decreased by roughly 1% last year, according to preliminary estimates, Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak said.

"Regarding the transport sector, we are seeing a decline in freight turnover. According to preliminary estimates, freight turnover by the end of 2025 decreased by around 1% year-on-year," he said at a meeting of the Federation Council Economic Policy Committee.

In 2025, Russian Railways’ network freight throughput amounted to 1.116 bln tons, a decrease of 5.6% compared to 2024. Freight turnover in the period amounted to 2.478 trillion tariff ton-km (-1.8%), and 3.075 trillion ton-km (-1.2%) including empty wagon mileage.
