India wants to develop ties with Russia in agricultural, light, food industries
There is a steady interest from Indian companies in expanding their presence in the Russian market, Andrey Sobolev noted
NEW DELHI, December 25. /TASS/. India has expressed growing interest in developing cooperation with Russia in the agro-industrial complex, as well as in the light and food industries, Russia’s Trade Representative in India Andrey Sobolev told TASS.
"India has shown growing interest in developing cooperation in the agro-industrial complex, as well as in the light and food industries, which opens up additional opportunities for expanding mutual trade and cooperation," he said.
At the same time, there is a steady interest from Indian companies in expanding their presence in the Russian market, Sobolev noted, adding that "several investment and cooperation initiatives are being developed in the areas of mechanical engineering, metallurgy, and the supply of industrial equipment and technology, including with a focus on localization and the creation of joint ventures."
Moscow and New Delhi have identified priority areas of cooperation, which include energy, mechanical engineering, metallurgy, the chemical and pharmaceutical industries, information technology, transport and logistics, and the mining sector, he said. Several dozen projects with the participation of Russian companies are already being implemented in India and are at various stages of development, covering sectors such as petrochemicals, chemical industry, industrial engineering, production of transport equipment, metallurgy, and mining equipment, the trade envoy said.
