Most of equipment for Akkuyu NPP already in Turkey — energy minister
Rosatom has found replacements for the undelivered equipment, Turkish Energy Minister Alparslan Bayraktar said
ISTANBUL, December 4. /TASS/. Most of the necessary equipment for the Akkuyu Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) is already in Turkey, with some components on their way from China, Turkish Energy Minister Alparslan Bayraktar said at a meeting with reporters in Istanbul.
"The equipment is already at Akkuyu, while some components are still on their way from China. Rosatom has found replacements for the [undelivered] equipment, which were ordered from China almost a year and a half ago. I believe most of this equipment has already arrived, but some components are still en route," he said when asked about the situation with the availability of necessary equipment for further implementation of the NPP project.
The Akkuyu NPP is the first nuclear power plant in Turkey being built by Russia’s state-run corporation Rosatom. The power plant will include four Russian-designed VVER generation 3+ reactors. Each reactor’s power output will be 1,200 MWt.
