Russia, Tajikistan almost completely switch to mutual settlements in national currencies

Russian President Vladimir Putin also noted that the trade turnover between Moscow and Dushanbe has shown excellent growth dynamics, rising by more than 17% since the start of the year

DUSHANBE, October 9. /TASS/. Russia and Tajikistan have practically fully transitioned to using their national currencies in mutual settlements, Russian President Vladimir Putin said during a press statement following Russian-Tajik negotiations in Dushanbe.

"Russia and Tajikistan have practically completely shifted to the use of national currencies in their financial relations. Their share in commercial transactions by the end of 2024 exceeds 97%," he said.

Putin also noted that the trade turnover between Russia and Tajikistan has shown excellent growth dynamics, rising by more than 17% since the start of the year. "Trade and economic relations are developing at a good pace. Last year, our trade turnover grew by over 7%, and in the first seven months of the current year - by more than 17%," Putin noted.

"This is solid progress, and we must, without doubt, maintain this momentum," the Russian president concluded.

Putin also added that Russia is among the leading investors in the Tajik economy. "More than 300 enterprises with Russian participation operate in the republic, and overall, our Russian capital investments have exceeded $500 mln," he said.
