Trump wants to force entire world to buy US energy at a higher price — Kremlin spokesman
The US President is moving forward, avoiding any complicated diplomatic tactics, Dmitry Peskov clarified
MOSCOW, September 24. /TASS/. US President Donald Trump is a businessman and wants to force the entire world to buy American oil and liquefied natural gas at a higher price, Russian presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov said in an interview with RBC radio.
"President Trump has never hidden his intention to ensure the economic interests of the United States. The simplest thing is to force the entire world to buy American oil at a higher price and American liquefied natural gas at a higher price," Peskov said.
Trump is moving forward, avoiding any complicated diplomatic tactics, the Kremlin spokesman clarified.
According to him, this is indeed the case, and it's a matter of economic feasibility.
"Perhaps the Americans can force [Europeans] to do this [to buy energy resources at higher prices]. And in many ways, they have succeeded. Many European countries have begun purchasing liquefied natural gas at higher prices. This has placed an additional burden on their budgets. This, in turn, has placed a burden on the pockets of their taxpayers," the Kremlin spokesman went on.
When Germans began receiving double-digit electricity bills, they began to step outside their comfort zone, and they don't like it, he clarified.
"This applies not only to Germans, but to virtually all [Europeans], and, perhaps to a lesser extent, of course, to France—it is, after all, a country where the bulk of its generation comes from nuclear energy. But all other countries are dependent on oil and gas," he concluded.
