Key rate lowering in July not predetermined — Bank of Russia
According to Elvira Nabiullina, decision will depend on how the situation will evolve and on the data received by the time of the next meeting on the rate
MOSCOW, June 6. /TASS/. Further lowering of the key rate is not predetermined and everything will depend on the evolving situation and coming data, Governor of the Bank of Russia Elvira Nabiullina said at the press conference after the Board meeting.
"The neutral signal provides for the possibility of either increasing or lowering the key rate - that is why it is neutral. Therefore, no contradiction or divergence is in place. As regards further steps on the rate - they are not predetermined. Our decision will depend on how the situation will evolve, on data we will receive by the time of the next meeting on the rate," Nabiullina said.
The Bank of Russia lowered the key rate by 100 base points to 20% after keeping it at 21% per annum for a long period of time.
